Thursday was a proper two-gig day! 🎤🎶First stop was Red Rose Care Centre in Newark for a cabaret show, where I had a lovely time singing for the residents. Then it was straight off to the Defence Academy in Swindon for the Battle of Britain Dinner. 🇬🇧✈️Two very different events, but both equally enjoyable!One of the lovely surprises of the evening was seeing my friend Steve McTigue, aka Churchill Remembered, as Winston Churchill. 🇬🇧 What a brilliant way to bring a little bit of history to the occasion, and he certainly looked the part!The Battle of Britain Dinner was held to remember the bravery and sacrifice of the RAF pilots and crews who defended Britain during the Battle of Britain in 1940. 💗 What a fabulous afternoon for such an important cause! 💗On 27th August, my beautiful friend Helen hosted the most wonderful afternoon in her stunning secret garden, raising money for Breast Cancer Now Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer research charity, funding vital research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, as well as providing support and information to people affected by the disease.And what better way to raise money than with 30+ fabulous friends, plenty of food, fun and a little bit of silliness!😂Helen is a former cook, so obviously the food was absolutely AMAZING! 😋 We were treated to a gorgeous spread, Pimms, music from the 50s, 60s and 70s, a raffle and guess the weight of the cake.There was plenty of laughing, chatting, eating and drinking — all whilst raising money for a cause that affects so many families.And the final total was...🎉 £420 RAISED FOR BREAST CANCER NOW! 🎉A huge thank you to everyone who came along, joined in, bought raffle tickets, guessed cake weights, drank Pimms and generally helped make it such a brilliant afternoon. Every pound raised will help support the vital work of Breast Cancer Now. 💗And Helen — you are the most amazing host! What a start to September! 🎶✨I’ve had such a busy few days that I’m only just catching my breath! It started with a little trip to Birmingham with Carys, where I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the one and only Paddington Bear! 🐻🧡 Of course, I couldn’t resist getting a photo! Then on Monday it was off to theVintage Village at Norfolk Park, where I had the pleasure of performing alongside the fabulous @ladylindysings** 🎤🎶 — all in support of the wonderful @nes_museumThe museum, based in Sheffield, celebrates the history of the emergency services and has an amazing collection of historic fire engines, ambulances, police vehicles and all sorts of fascinating memorabilia. 🚒🚑👮‍♂️ If you haven’t visited, it’s well worth putting on the list!A massive thank you toSarah, Martin and David for looking after me so brilliantly — and to David #2 for keeping me supplied with approximately 847 cups of tea! ☕😂 You know me too well!Thursday evening was rather lovely too — a night at Nottingham Theatre Royal with my longtime partner in crime Sally to see The Last Laugh. 🎭 What a fabulous theatre to spend an evening in — the Theatre Royal has been part of Nottingham’s cultural life since 1865!And naturally, no theatre trip is complete without food, so we headed to Bistrot Pierre beforehand for a delicious dinner. 🍷🍴And today? 🚗🚌📸 A rather lovely few days in my world…Tuesday was spent sorting out a replacement car for the twins with Mum and Dad, after some idiot decided to write their car off the previous week! Carys is now the very happy owner of a bright red KA 🚗 And, as you can see, she’s rather pleased with it! At least she’ll be easy to spot… Then Wednesday was a completely different sort of day.I headed off on a vintage vehicle photoshoot with a fabulous bunch of photographers, travelling in Bertie, a beautiful 1947 Barton Vintage Double Decker. Bertie originally worked in Nottinghamshire and has been fully restored to his original condition, including the fabulous period interior and original adverts. He seats 55 people and is available to hire for weddings and special occasions.We headed into Loughborough and stopped at a gorgeous thatched cottage, where the owner very kindly made us all a brew. Because obviously, a vintage photoshoot requires tea. It’s the law. We eventually ended up near East Bridgford before heading home after a brilliant day out.And then Wednesday evening… straight off to my friend Helen’s for dinner and a bit of hot tub time! The following morning we headed off to the spa where I had a facial and a massage. Honestly, Helen really is the bestest host in the whole world. She certainly knows how to look after a girl! Check out Thursday morning's breakfast....So there we have it… replacement cars, vintage buses, photography, thatched cottages, cups of tea, dinner, hot tubs, facials and massages.And somewhere amongst all that I’m still finding time to be me.
