Today I had the honour at singing at Lisa and Simon’s Vintage themed wedding.
I had fist met Lisa and Simon at the Nottingham 1940s Knees-up so I was thrilled when they contacted me to sing at their drinks reception following their wedding ceremony.
Their wedding took place at the Bestwood Lodge Hotel in Nottingham so really local for us; in fact the last time I was in the hotel was when I was a bridesmaid for my friends wedding.
The vintage theme to their wedding ran through all the decor from welcoming the guests through to the glorious suitcase style wedding cake and the fine bone china table decorations. We managed to grab a quick chat with Simon prior the wedding who looked surprisingly calm! The ceremony was taking place in the small chapel whilst the drink reception that followed was held in the courtyard.
I was to sing for just over an hour as the guests enjoyed a drink in the courtyard before they went in for the wedding breakfast. Simon and Lisa had wanted a selection of songs from the 1940s, specifically with some Andrew’s Sisters numbers, but aside from that I had a blank canvas. I did a range of songs from laid back jazz though to the well know wartime songs before finishing with ‘Sing as We Go’ as they went through for their wedding breakfast.
