🚂🎶 What a lovely day yesterday!I spent the day aboard a steam train at the beautiful Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Derbyshire, as part of one of Vallances Coaches’ vintage trips. The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Vallances Coaches Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is a heritage railway running from Wirksworth through the Ecclesbourne Valley, and it really is the perfect setting for a day of vintage entertainment. There’s something rather special about travelling through the Derbyshire countryside on a steam train, especially when you’re singing songs from the 1940s along the way! 🚂🎤There were also three couples celebrating wedding anniversaries, which made it extra lovely to be part of their special day. 🥂💍And then, as if the steam train and 1940s music weren’t enough, we were treated to a performance from the Black Pig Border Morris Dancers on the platform. They’re an East Midlands Border Morris group, and they certainly know how to put on a show! 💃🕺A big thank you to the team at Vallances Coaches, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and the Black Pig Border Morris for a brilliant day.Steam trains, 1940s songs, vintage travel and Morris dancing… now that’s a pretty good combination! ❤️🚂🎶Jayne x#JayneDarling #VintagePerformer #1940s #1940sMusic #VintageMusic #SteamTrain #SteamRailway #EcclesbourneValleyRailway #VallancesCoaches #VallancesVintageTrips #BlackPigBorderMorris #MorrisDancing #VintageEntertainment #LiveMusic #1940sEntertainment #Derbyshire #EastMidlands #VintageDayOut #VintageTravel #SteamTrainDay ...

Yesterday was a lovely double-gig day! 🎤🎶My first stop was Together Arnold, celebrating their 9th anniversary. I've been performing there for pretty much all of those nine years myself, so it was lovely to be back! I treated everyone to an hour of 50s and 60s favourites, with plenty of familiar tunes. 🎶Then it was off to my second gig of the day, celebrating Mensa's 80th anniversary! 🥳For anyone who doesn't know, Mensa is the international society for people who score in the top 2% of the population in an approved intelligence test. So, quite a clever bunch! They made me feel incredibly welcome, and we had some really interesting and very funny conversations. One of the highlights was discovering a shared love of pareidolia – seeing faces in everyday objects. The wine box, for example, looked remarkably like Shaun the Sheep! 😂Even better, one of the gentlemen had a supply of googly eyes with him. Now, anyone who knows me and my sister will know we're rather partial to a pair of googly eyes ourselves, so I felt right at home! It's just a shame I'm not quite intelligent enough to join them! 🤣Two very different gigs, two lovely audiences and a brilliant day doing what I love. ❤️#jaynedarling #vintagePerformer #vintageentertainment #LiveMusic #50smusic #60smusic #togetherarnold #arnoldnottingham #mensa #mensa80 #mensaanniversary #pareidolia #googlyeyes #shaunthesheep #vintagesinger #nottinghamperformer #eastmidlandsentertainment #liveentertainment #doublegig #MusicAndMemories ...

What a marvellous weekend! 🥰🎶Saturday took me to Birmingham, where I spent the evening celebrating the 25th wedding anniversary of one of my oldest friends. ❤️🥂 Such a lovely occasion and a brilliant excuse to catch up and celebrate together! Then on Sunday, it was off to Welshpool for their fantastic 1940s Weekend! 🇬🇧🎤 I had a wonderful time sharing the stage with some fabulous performers, including Andrew and Sandra of the Blitz Dancers, Jeep Johnson, Colin Bordiec and the Harmony Belles. 🎶💃One of the absolute highlights of the weekend was visiting The Longest Yarn exhibition. 🧶😍 If you haven't seen it, you really should! It's an incredible knitted and crocheted exhibition depicting scenes from Britain during the Second World War. The sheer amount of work, detail and creativity that has gone into it is just phenomenal. I could have spent hours looking at it allA weekend of friendship, fabulous entertainment, music and a little bit of history. Just how I like it! ❤️Thank you to everyone who made the weekend so enjoyable. Already looking forward to the next one! 🎶#jaynedarling #vintagePerformer #1940sweekend #welshpool #Welshpool1940sweekend #thelongestyarn #thelongestyarnexhibition #1940s #wartime #wartimeentertainment #vintageentertainment #LiveMusic #vintagesinger #Blitzdancers #harmonybelles #jeepjohnson #colinbordiec #1940sstyle #WartimeHistory #WeekendHighlights 🇬🇧🎶💃🧶 ...
