Had a great day yesterday for Day 1 at Clipstone at War working alongside the The Lahdidahs - Vintage Vocals and @kyleevansasgeorge Kyle Evans As George Formby Thank you to David Sharp for the pics. A huge well done to Stu Mills and the whole team for all the hard work that goes into making this weekend happen. Events like this take months of planning, and it really shows. πŸ‘I have just one mission for today... find myself some flying saucers! πŸ¬πŸ˜‚ I spotted plenty yesterday but somehow managed to miss out.I also discovered that after a busy day singing, a deckchair is surprisingly dangerous... I sat down for five minutes and promptly fell asleep in it! 😴πŸͺ‘If you're looking for something to do today, it's well worth a visit. What a glorious day it was on Saturday performing at the spectacular Belvoir Castle @belvoircastle Flower & Garden Show! Set against the backdrop of one of the UK's finest Regency castles, with over 1,000 years of history overlooking the beautiful Vale of Belvoir, it was an absolute joy to spend the day singing music from the 1920s right through to the 1970s for visitors exploring the gardens, floral displays, artisan stalls and expert talks. 🌷🏰🌼I was delighted to be performing alongside the wonderful @johnnyvictory1940 Johnny Victory - Vintage Singer and Entertainer whose incredible knowledge of vintage music and entertainment spans everything from the Edwardian era through to the swinging sixties. A huge thank you must also go to my lovely friend Claire from Miss Bella's Blooms for creating my fabulous flower crown and corsage. My only instructions were "large"... and she absolutely understood the assignment! πŸ˜‚πŸŒΊπŸŒΈπŸŒ»πŸŒΌπŸŒ· The result was a glorious explosion of flowers which seemed perfectly at home amongst the beautiful blooms of Belvoir.If you're looking for gorgeous floral creations for weddings, events or special occasions, Claire's work is always stunning and crafted with so much care and creativity. πŸ’There really is something rather special about spending a summer afternoon surrounded by flowers, beautiful gardens, historic surroundings and music spanning half a century of popular songs. When your weekend feels like it’s been on fast-forward for three days straight…Friday night I was at The Commercial Inn in Beeston celebrating June’s 96th birthday – my 4th year singing for this lovely lady’s party! This year we went full 60s & 70s, with a bit of festival sparkle thrown in for good measure for June ✨Saturday was all about my sister Ellie’s wedding to the lovely Chris. My girls were bridesmaids alongside our niece Beatrice, and our nephew Alexander (9) casually stole the show with a bit of stand-up comedy… he had us in stitches, some jokes not to be repeated! My daughter Carys made the Mountain wedding cake inspired by the newlyweds love of snow boarding. Sunday started in Newark for Armed Forces Day, where I had the honour of leading the National Anthem and performing for the Veterans’ lunch before heading back into the square later on.Then straight from that into birthday mode at my niece Beatrice’s 7th birthday party… obviously I had to have a go on the bouncy castle slide (as you do) - no broken limbs this time though.Sunday evening I finished off at Theatre Royal Nottingham to see Elkie Brooks – 81 years young and absolutely owning that stage. Incredible band, packed house, and a proper masterclass in performing.Think I might need a quieter weekend next time round… or at least a lie down on that bouncy castle slide πŸ˜… ... 🎢 A busy few days ahead! 🎢The sequinned frocks are pressed, the music is ready, and somewhere in Nottinghamshire a family wedding is rapidly approaching! πŸ’’β˜€οΈThis Saturday, my sister is getting married and final preparations are well underway. My daughter Carys has taken on the important responsibility of making the wedding cake πŸŽ‚ and, having sampled plenty of her baking over the years, I can confirm the guests are in for a treat.Carys, her twin sister Isobel and their 6-year-old cousin Beatrice will all be bridesmaids, which means there will be plenty of photographs and plenty of excitement.Before the wedding festivities begin, I'll be spending Friday evening celebrating a very special birthday. πŸŽ‰. I'll be singing for the lovely June as she celebrates her 96th birthday. This will be the fourth year in a row that I've had the pleasure of performing at her birthday party and it's always one of the highlights of my year. June has seen an incredible amount of history unfold during her lifetime and still knows how to throw a good party! 🎢πŸ₯‚Then, once the wedding confetti has settled, it'll be straight on to Newark Armed Forces Weekend on Sunday. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§I'll be leading the singing of the National Anthem at 12:30pm following the parade before performing for the veterans' lunch.Later in the afternoon I'll be back in Newark Market Place at 2:00pm with a selection of wartime favourites and popular classics.If you're attending any of these events, do come and say hello. Just don't ask me to carry the wedding cake.
