๐ŸŽถ Just back from a fantastic afternoon delivering my โ€œKeep Smiling Through โ€“ Music & Entertainment in Wartime Britainโ€ session for a brilliant primary school down in Hampshire! ๐ŸŽคโœจWe explored the importance of entertainment during wartime and celebrated iconic 1940s artists like Duke Ellington, Captain Glenn Miller, The Andrews Sisters, Dame Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields, and Flanagan & Allen. ๐ŸŽท๐ŸŽปThe children were amazing! ๐Ÿ‘ We chatted about family connections to WWII, evacuees, rationing, ENSA, and, of course, the fun of dancing ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ. The best part? Hearing them sing along to the songs they knew โ€“ they absolutely smashed it! ๐ŸŽตIโ€™ve been visiting this school (and their wonderful music teacher Mrs White) since 2017, and itโ€™s always such a pleasure. I am currently day 3 into my run of Care Home Christmas shows which is finding me at homes across the East Midlands. I just wanted to shout out to a few people whilst I have a minute.Firstly everyone at the National Emergency Services Museum - we had a fantastic time on Sunday and always I love working with Johnny Victory - Vintage Singer and Entertainer and Eleanor Mattley - Live Singer - both so incredibly talented and we did have a laugh. The visitors were great as well - all joined in the fun. Secondly my wonderful friend Miss Bella's Blooms who has created me 6 bespoke pieces for my Christmas shows and other outfits. The detail in my Elf crown is incredible- although being 6 feet tall in heels I have already destroyed some decorations hanging from the ceiling ๐Ÿคฃ๐ŸคฃThirdly Raych at Sentimental journey who created my door wreath which is absolutely stunning and lovely to come home to. Fourthly, Jame Allsopp for the fantastic hand made Christmas Cake he has done for us - we cannot wait to tuck into it on Christmas Day!On another note my husband Darren is being Father Christmas at Mercia Marina (Findern , Derbyshire) on Sat 14th December / Sat 21st December and Sun 22nd December This is a free Grotto ran by Mercia Marina for their customers and is completely free of charge to meet Santa. This year, at Darren's suggestion, they are raising funds for the Children's Renal Ward at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham. Some of you may know that Darren's daughter Rebecca is currently having dialysis due to kidney failure and the ward is lacking in any decent TVs for the kids - especially when they have to spend days or weeks there.
