🎤 Busy weekend!Sat: I performed 4 sets from the 1920s–1960s for Ted’s 80th birthday – what a brilliant celebration! 🥳 Straight from there, I headed to the Hare & Hounds in Haconby for Emily & Paul’s wedding – such a lovely couple and a beautiful venue tucked away in Lincolnshire countryside. 💍🎶Today: Darren and I are running a 4-hour disco as part of a family funday. 🕺💃Tomorrow: Back on the steam train at The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway 🚂 singing for passengers who have travelled with Vallances Coaches – always fun to perform surrounded by the sights and sounds of vintage locomotives! Two very different events in one day – but both guaranteed to be special in their own ways. ✨ Sunday – I’ll be in Newark running a 4-hour children’s disco as part of a big family event. 🎶 Ten years ago this weekend... @johnnyvictory 🎶 Ten years ago this weekend... @johnnyvictory1940 and I were lucky enough to be part of a very special housewarming party down in the beautiful Cotswolds – and honestly, it’s still one of the best events I’ve ever done. We arrived to find a Winnebago ready and waiting for us to get changed in (no squeezing into frocks in pub toilets for this one!), full catering, and even a professional make-up artist to get us stage-ready. I still wear the dress and shoes (think my dress was Hell Bunny) The attention to detail was something else – they’d hired waiting staff dressed in Vivien of Holloway outfits and there was entertainment all over the house, including a live pianist and saxophonist in other rooms. Johnny and I did a couple of songs together, supported by a fab sound engineer and full PA – the kind of setup we performers dream of! The whole afternoon had a great buzz to it and it’s one I still remember really fondly. Really saddened to hear about the passing of Notti Really saddened to hear about the passing of Nottingham’s beloved and Official Robin Hood, Tim Pollard after a short battle with cancer. Tim was a familiar and much-loved figure around Nottingham Castle, bringing Robin Hood to life in the annual pageants from 1999 onwards, and representing the city far beyond our borders – from Chicago to Toronto and New York He was not only a talented actor, but also a graphic designer, reenactor, and gaming industry professional. Nottingham has lost a true icon . Rest well, Tim – Nottingham’s very own outlaw, storyteller and friend. 💚
🎤 I was truly honoured to sing for Geoff Robert 🎤 I was truly honoured to sing for Geoff Roberts MBE at his birthday celebration in Eye, near Peterborough, last Saturday evening 🇬🇧✨ Geoff is one of the few remaining veterans of the Battle of Arnhem, where as a 19‑year‑old in September 1944, he flew in by Horsa glider with the 7th Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers, during Operation Market Garden. He later endured captivity in a POW camp, working in coal mines, until the end of the war. This June, just before turning 100, Geoff was awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace for his tireless work commemorating the Battle of Arnhem and supporting veterans, what’s more, he’s travelled yearly to the Netherlands to pay tribute to comrades lost in battle. The evening itself was stunning—vintage vehicles, genuine uniforms, and his friends even came from the Netherlands. The attention to detail and sense of respect in the room was moving. It was my joy to sing a selection of wartime classics and sing-alongs for such an extraordinary man and gathering. Eye Village Hall was the perfect venue for the occasion. 🪑 Commemorative Bench to Mark 80 Years Since WW 🪑 Commemorative Bench to Mark 80 Years Since WWII End 🪑 This Sunday 3rd August at 12pm, the Hay Craft Centre on Oxford Road will unveil a special bench remembering the local men who lost their lives in WWII. Their names will be engraved on the bench as a lasting tribute: Roger Burney, Kenneth Davies, Lancelot Steele Dixon, David Evans, Percy Evans, Martin Gibson-Watt, William Hart, John Hincks, Thomas Hincks, John Howard, Ernest Jenkins, John Jenkins, Peter Lehto, John Preece, Michael Stapleton, Ernest Turner, Glyndwr Williams, John Williams, Kenneth Williams Kelvyn Jenkins, who has been dedicated to keeping these stories alive, would love to connect with any relatives of the men named. Having family present would add a lot to the day and help share their stories. The event includes a short service led by Canon Paul Wright, followed by the Last Post and a minute’s silence to honour those who served and sacrificed. After that, there’ll be refreshments and a chance to share memories in a relaxed atmosphere. I’ll be there singing vintage tunes to add an extra touch to the occasion.
